Anzac Memorial Collection
New arrivals
During the First World War, Anzacs stationed in France often purchased embroidered silk postcards to send home to loved ones. Hand-embroidered in silk thread by French women, these postcards formed a thriving cottage industry, providing vital income during a time of profound hardship.
Drawing on this poignant history, the scarves feature original artworks by Chantal Sneddon Creative, inspired by the delicate beauty of these postcards and the poetry of the era. The designs incorporate digitally composed artworks developed from selected elements of embroidered postcards held in the Anzac Memorial Collection.
Crafted from 100% mulberry silk, the scarves are meticulously made and finished by hand, with a hand-rolled edge, reimagined as contemporary textiles that honour memory, craftsmanship and connection. Created especially for the Anzac Memorial, Sydney, the collection is available exclusively through Laudie Studio and the Anzac Memorial, Hyde Park, Sydney.
